Gerli moccasins
Gerli brand (1973) comes from the German foothill town of Merzalben. It is a stone´s throw from the famous shoemaking town of Pirmasens. Gösta Andersson and Bruno Heim were already experienced in the production and sales of shoes at that time. From experience they found that customers craved the casual „docksider“ loafers that were worn on boats and ships. Therefore, in 1985 they followed this trend and produced the first slip on leather shoes. They were named „Dockers“ and Gerli company goal was that the shoes could be affordable for anyone. Therefore, they focused on an adequate cost-benefit ratio under keeping the high quality.
Dockers Boots are iconic
The success of the brand, however, was a different kind of footwear: the Dockers boots. In bright corn yellow or chocolate brown with a high, padded ankle in a mountaineering look, they are still iconic today.
The first Dockers Boots were made in factories in Portugal and Spain. The Goodyear design made them particularly robust. The sole is not just glued to the upper, as is usually the case, but the sole, frame and upper are sewn together. Today, almost every year Dockers designers reinterpret them with new sole types and details. But their original character has remained and Dockers Boots are still recognizable at first sight.
The Dockers range is expanding, initially producing unisex models. Over time, a separate women´s collection came along and shortly afterwards a children´s collection was added.
Sophisticated production technologies
Today, the Dockers by Gerli brand presents fashion and sports footwear with an eye for detail. Sometimes a decorative seam, sometimes a decorative thread... Dockers keeps up with the times and implements new technologies in its shoes. For example, it adds Docktex and Sympatex membranes that make winter boots windproof and waterproof, while remaining breathable. Also new and patented is Soft Insock, a particularly soft insole. The removable insoles and the light weight of the boot (thanks to the high quality and soft materials) ensure the highest wearing comfort.
Dockers´ brand strategy is to offer everyone the perfect modern footwear for leisure and every day. It has been striving to do this for almost 40 years in more than 100 different models, which it sells throughout Europe and the United Arab Emirates.
